- First and foremost i'm a beer man. My love affair with real ale began when my wife and I bought a pub in the Scottish highlands. Already having a reputation for serving excellent real ale, I grew to appreciate the great beers available in the region and eventually opened an onsite real ale shop. Moving south a few years later, I continued my passion for retailing quality beers by opening West Country Ales, in the heart of Cheddar Gorge. Focusing on West Country beers and ciders, we believe we have the widest range of West Country Ales under one roof anywhere in the country.
